Late April Notification of response to application for candidates who have submitted an application to their selected supervisors. RMP summer positions are supervised by at least one full time faculty member within our program. Often the student will be working as part of an interdisciplinary team. The scope of the summer position is usually in alignment with one of our research projects in physics, radiation therapy, clinical research, education and laboratory-based research. The duration will be determined between the student and supervisor.

Summer student opportunities typically range from 8 to 12 weeks. Supervisors typically have a pre-established plan for each summer student position. In addition to working closely with the supervisor s to determine the student's scope of activities, students are encouraged to take advantage of all learning opportunities within RMP and Princess Margaret. In addition to these MBP and Cancer Education opportunities, students are strongly encouraged to prepare an abstract based on the work they have completed over the summer and participate in the RMP Summer Student Research Day.

Finally, students are expected to complete the end of summer Research Report and Program Evaluation prior to their last day. About The Radiation Medicine Program. Page Content. Personalized Care. Fellows are sited at either the Princess Margaret Hospital or Odette Cancer Centre, and the program offers both clinical and research training and experience.

There are positions annually, that encompass all major tumour sites. There may also be supervisors from other departments, where appropriate. Upon completion of the training program, an AFC fellow will be able to function as a competent specialist in Brachytherapy, capable of an enhanced practice in this area of focused competence within the scope of Radiation Oncology.

The brachytherapy AFC trainee will acquire a working knowledge of the theoretical and practical basis of Brachytherapy, including its foundations in science and research, as it applies to medical practice. The AFC program will provide an intensive training in all aspects of brachytherapy in order to enable the trainee to acquire all of the required competencies.

The main focus will be on prostate and gynaecological brachytherapy.
