I realise it has a grip on the comp that almost defeats it's purpose, which is why I installed AVG SP2 didn't install.. By 'restore' I'm talking about the 'system restore point' that the SP2 created before it started to install.
It took a few minuits for the sp installation to save this info and MS included it with the SP, I assume, so that if something went wrong, I would be able to go back to it. Since the install failed I now need to use that 'feature'.
If for some reason the restore point failed to save or is corrupt then I'll be looking for some sort of 'recovery' and then lastly I'll be looking at a 'reformat' before I do a reformat I'll have to retrieve my data though.
I'm looking for suggestions on how to find in the directory with DOS the 'restore point' here.. If SP2 didn't install, there won't be an associated Restore Point not that System Restore could come to the rescue here anyway.
